This year, we proudly celebrate 25 years at the forefront of luxury Main Beach real estate. Lloyd Estate Agents has built a legacy defined by family values, unmatched expertise, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. But our story began long before our brand became synonymous with luxury property success.
Before founding Lloyd Estate Agents, Graham and Sharon Lloyd were engaged by Mirvac in a project marketing role. They played a pivotal part in successfully selling the luxurious residential towers of Liberty on Tedder, an iconic development in the heart of Main Beach. Their exceptional performance and dedication to delivering results did not go unnoticed. Upon the project's completion, numerous owners approached Graham and Sharon, seeking their expertise to sell their properties. Inspired by this demand, the Lloyd brand was born, initially trading under the name Livin In Prestige Properties, which marked their entry into the Main Beach real estate market.
From these humble beginnings, the Lloyd family laid the foundation for what would become an enduring presence in the Gold Coast property industry. Today, as we look back on 25 years of achievements, we invite you to explore the milestones, moments, and successes that have shaped the legacy of Lloyd Estate Agents.
The early 2000s marked the beginning of an extraordinary chapter for Lloyd Estate Agents. With the doors of their new office opened on Tedder Avenue, Graham and Sharon Lloyd were poised to bring their vision for luxury real estate to life. Their dedication and expertise quickly positioned the agency as a trusted name in Main Beach real estate.
The year 2002 brought another significant milestone to the family business as Graham and Sharon’s middle son, Mathew joined the ranks. With a strong background in client-focused and management roles in the surf industry, he brought fresh perspectives and a natural affinity for building relationships, further enhancing the company’s capacity to deliver exceptional service.
During this period, the agency not only established itself but also demonstrated its ability to achieve outstanding results. Thanks to their strategic approach and extensive buyer network, Lloyd Estate Agents was exclusively engaged by Sunland to oversee the final luxury release of the Broadbeach ARIA residential tower. Their meticulous efforts culminated in successfully securing contracts for the remaining Sub Penthouse and Penthouse stock, showcasing their expertise in marketing luxury properties and meeting the expectations of high-end clientele.
These achievements underscored the growing reputation of Lloyd Estate Agents as leaders in the Gold Coast property market. Their family values and commitment to excellence laid a strong foundation for the successes that would follow.
The mid-2000s brought a period of extraordinary growth to the Gold Coast property market. With unprecedented development activity, the skyline was dotted with construction cranes as the region embraced vertical living spaces. Luxury high-rise developments began to transform the way people thought about urban coastal living, and Lloyd Estate Agents was at the forefront of this wave of innovation, helping clients seize opportunities in an evolving market.
During this time, Lloyd Estate Agents solidified its reputation as a trusted leader in luxury property transactions. Notable resales within the Main Beach market highlighted their exceptional ability to connect buyers with exclusive homes, driving success in one of the Gold Coast's most sought-after areas. Their influence extended far beyond resales, as the agency continued to provide vital support in 'Off The Plan' sales. They played a key role working with Sunland on the central Surfers Paradise twin towers of Circle on Cavill, helping create excitement around these landmark developments while building strong relationships within the market.
Amid this booming real estate environment, the Lloyd family’s commitment to personalised service and strategic expertise shone through. Their ability to anticipate market trends and adapt to client needs positioned the agency for lasting success. These years were a testament to their dedication to excellence and their role in shaping the Gold Coast’s luxury property landscape.
The 2010–2014 period proved to be one of the most challenging eras in the Gold Coast property market, as the lingering effects of the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) continued to ripple through the region. Property values declined significantly across many areas, with some markets witnessing drops of up to 20–30%. Developers faced hurdles in financing new projects, and buyers became more cautious, prioritising stability and long-term value over speculative opportunities.
Amid these economic headwinds, the Lloyd family adapted by investing in the future of their company. Graham Lloyd, the agency's cofounder, decided to step back from the day-to-day activities of real estate. Opting for a quieter lifestyle, he purchased a hobby farm, which he promptly filled with rescue thoroughbreds. This unexpected venture brought plenty of lively debates, as horses were far from Sharon’s idea of retirement bliss. The anecdote of Graham’s farm became a beloved reminder of his passion and sense of humour during otherwise difficult times.
During this same period, Mathew Lloyd took steps to elevate the company’s market expertise. Enrolling at Bond University, he pursued advanced studies to further enrich Lloyd Estate Agents' service offerings. By 2014, Mathew had graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration, Property Valuation, and Project Management. His achievements reflected the family’s ongoing commitment to professional development and innovation in a shifting market.
Despite the downturn, Lloyd Estate Agents continued to deliver standout results. A shining example of this resilience was the record-breaking transaction of the Liberty Panorama Penthouse. Initially sold Off The Plan for $3,500,000, the penthouse was resold for an unprecedented $9,200,000 during this period. The sale underscored the agency’s ability to secure exceptional outcomes even in unpredictable market conditions.
The years from 2015 to 2019 were marked by both triumphs and profound loss for the Lloyd family and their business. Building on decades of excellence, Lloyd Estate Agents continued to thrive in the luxury property market, firmly cementing its position as a trusted leader in Main Beach real estate. The demand for prestige coastal properties remained strong, and the team delivered remarkable outcomes, achieving record sales that underscored the appeal of Main Beach as a premier destination for affluent buyers.
However, this period also brought a significant personal loss. Graham Lloyd, the visionary cofounder of the agency, sadly passed away in 2019 after a short but courageous battle with aggressive brain cancer. Graham's legacy of integrity, passion, and excellence left an indelible mark not only on the agency but also on the countless clients and community members who had the privilege of knowing him. His passing was deeply felt, but his values continued to inspire every aspect of the family-run business.
With Graham no longer at the helm, Mathew Lloyd stepped into a prominent leadership role, ensuring the agency remained steadfast in its mission while adapting to market trends and changes. Leveraging his extensive expertise and fresh perspectives, Mathew guided the team through an evolving property landscape, maintaining the family’s commitment to excellence and client success.
Amid the challenges, the agency celebrated significant milestones, including several standout sales within the Main Beach market that reinforced its reputation for achieving extraordinary results. This period showcased not just resilience but also the enduring strength of the Lloyd Estate Agents brand, built on a foundation of family, trust, and a shared vision for excellence in luxury real estate.
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought significant changes to the global property market, with luxury coastal homes soaring in demand as people reassessed their lifestyles and priorities. During this time, the Gold Coast experienced an extraordinary surge in property values, with Main Beach properties particularly sought after by affluent buyers seeking both lifestyle and investment appeal. Lloyd Estate Agents thrived amidst this rapid market growth, achieving record-breaking results and continuing to solidify its reputation as a leader in luxury real estate.
Tragically, this period also brought profound personal loss for the Lloyd family. On October 1, 2022, Sharon Lloyd passed away following a private battle with terminal cancer, which she courageously fought after being diagnosed three months following her husband Graham’s passing. Sharon, a pillar of the agency, chose to continue working in the final months of her life, dedicating herself to the clients and properties she loved. Her strength, grace, and commitment remain a beacon for all who knew her, and her absence is deeply felt throughout the Main Beach real estate community.
Amidst these challenges, Lloyd Estate Agents continued to meet market demands with excellence. The agency achieved standout sales including 2232, 2242, 2241, and 2271 Liberty Panorama, along with the beachfront home at 3517 Main Beach Parade. Here, Mathew Lloyd personally facilitated a seamless purchase for an overseas buyer, showcasing the team’s commitment to exceptional client care. These transactions highlighted the agency’s continued ability to adapt and excel, even in difficult times.
As the business looks to the future, new team members Olivia Gallagher and Wayne Hope have brought fresh energy and perspective to Lloyd Estate Agents. These additions reflect the agency's enduring emphasis on quality over quantity, ensuring every team member embodies its core values and culture. Olivia’s tenacity in delivering results and Wayne’s wealth of experience have both proven invaluable, strengthening the agency’s continued role as a powerhouse in the Main Beach and greater Gold Coast market.
Today, under Mathew’s leadership, Lloyd Estate Agents honours the legacy of its founders while evolving to meet new opportunities. With a team that combines passion, professionalism, and expertise, the agency is poised for continued success, ready to help clients achieve their property dreams and investments in the years to come.
At Lloyd Estate Agents, our commitment to excellence has always been rooted in our family values and a dedication to delivering exceptional results. With Mathew Lloyd at the helm and his brother-in-law, Wayne, joining the team, the business proudly remains under family management. This continuity ensures that our clients receive the experienced, knowledgeable, and personalised service that has defined our success for over 25 years.
